The Civil Society Network in Eastern Equatoria with support from Peace Link organization in Torit on Tuesday disseminated chapter one and two of the Revitalized Peace Agreement to one hundred civil society organizations members in the state.
The dissemination aims at enlightening the organizations to understand and know the progress made in the chapter one and two of the accord, Radio Emmanuel reported.
The participants are from various department of civil society organizations and organized forces.
Secretary-General for Civil Society Organization Network in Eastern Equatoria, Ochen Philip Clement said the workshop is the review of the importance of chapters one and two which elaborate more on formation of transitional government.
‘Basically, today we have dissemination of Revitalized Peace Agreement that is chapter one and two where categories of participants from organize forces, women association, civil society, the faith based organization and all the chiefs from all the blocks they are all present in this dissemination of peace agreement’, he noted.
Philip noted that it is the sole responsibility of the civil society to continuing disseminating the peace document in the grassroots
‘We are continuing disseminating though other people say they have got the information about the agreement, that is not enough the population of people great and share with them how the document is, what is the chapter, the formation of R-TGONU. When we come to chapter two the permanent ceasefire, the parameter the mechanism that is why to enlighten our community our society from time to time and again, and the targeted participants is here 1oo people’, he explained.
The team leader of Area Joint monitoring Ceasefire Committee or AJMCC and a participant Brigadier General Moses Cornelio Abele said he understood the chapters one and two of the agreement which talks about the reunification and training of forces.
He called on parties in the peace agreement to speed in the implementation of pending issues
‘For the case of the agreement, the agreement is going on well 100% not 99%, like our forces in all different location for training, all the organize forces are taken for training others are already in Juba’, Brigadier General Cornelio said.
Torit State Acting Chairperson for Peace Commission is hopeful that the agreement will fully be implemented before the formation of the transitional government.
‘It will be fruitful with God grace; I hope for peace because we suffered for long. I am saying I hope because this is coming from me’, he expected.
The issue of the number of states and boundaries still remains a stumbling block to the implementation of the peace agreement.
