Torit Director of Planning in the Ministry of Finance Andrew Ohide said lack of planning personnel has contributed to the delay of budget drafting in the state.

Radio Emmanuel quoted him calling on state authorities to promote staff to positively assist in bringing out the draft budget.

‘In fact some challenges originate from when go to the national government where some times the national government could not pass the budget in time and it will delay our process in preparing the budget. Secondly the resources to begin the budget process sometimes could be a problem because once we come up with sealing we wanted to conduct workshop there will be no resources to immediately conduct the budget, Ohide complained.

He added that third one in the state we lack planning officers that why you can see the two of us facilitating here and there and we even work with state institutions including counties to help them come up with their draft budget in this period’.

Ohide called on state authorities to recruit more work force to help in budget planning in the state.

He appealed to politicians to be active and acquire basic skills of planning and allocation of resources.

‘Our politicians at least should help improve in helping the planning unit because I see the planning unit is not active now in all other institutions. We need to do the recruitment or identify some people we train them and equip them with the planning skills so that they help in doing the planning so that when we plan correctly we can now go for proper development and equitable resource allocations’, the director clarified.
