Torit State Government has officially opened Irenge Bridge in Himo-donge Payam.

Speaking during the event, chairperson of the organizing committee, Sunlight Angalava says the launch is to allow humanitarian agencies access areas blocked due to impassable bridge.

Angalafa says communities in the area were hindered from accessing basic services, including schools, health and clean drinking water.

Meanwhile, women representative of Himo-donge community, Josephine Igisa Filberto urges government and humanitarian agencies to deliver basic services to the local population.

Igisa regrets that absence of schools in Himodonge Payam forced them to send children to Torit for education.

Torit State Governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo advises the local population to use the bridge well to easy transportation of farm produce to other locations.

The Governor urges communities to embrace peace and embark on agriculture to sustain their lives.

Irenge Bridge was bomb in 1985 during the Sudan and South Sudan twenty-one years of civil war.
