The Director for Chukudum Hospital of Kapoeta State says cases of measles are on rise in the area, despite of the vaccine launched last year in December in measles’ affected areas.

Dr. Dominic Cypriano says the hospital receives about five and above cases of measles per day since late last year.

He adds that the hospital has currently admitted over thirty cases of measles.

He calls for awareness so that the entire community knows the signs and symptoms of this alarming disease.

According to a Medical Director, measles is a highly infectious disease spread mainly through cough and sneezing, causing fever, runny nose, red eyes and rashes.

South Sudan is among the countries experiencing an upsurge of measles cases.
