When one is baptized his or her sin is washed away and becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus, Fr Emmanuel Lodongo Sebit, Secretary-General of the Catholic Diocese of Yei told faithful of Christ the King Cathedral on Sunday.
He explained that Jesus Christ was baptized because he wanted the power and knows that it is important to get the Sacrament of Baptism, Radio Easter reported.
Fr Lodongo quoted John the Baptist saying he was coming to prepare the way for Jesus to baptize with the Holy Spirit.
He said Jesus Christ accepted to be baptized by John the Baptist which shows respect and good behavior of human beings and God.
The priest cited that many people think Baptism is only pouring of the water on the heads of Christians, but is getting blessings, reward, light power and love of God.
The Secretary-General was giving homily on Sunday at Christ the King Cathedral in Yei.
