Residents of Akuac area in Rumbek Town are complaining of high rates of crimes involving property looting, beating and rape.
One of the residents says the security situation gets worse every evening especially at night.
She adds the situation has forced their husbands to stay away from home.
Another resident says their goats and phones were taken which makes it difficult to report the cases to police.
They add sexual harassments and rape of young girls when they go out to fetch firewood or water from the boreholes is common.
Another resident complains that it is the duty of government to protect the people but now their life is miserable in the area.
He adds government need to urgently improve the security in Akuac.
The residents spoke to Good News Radio on Tuesday in Rumbek.
