The commander of SPLA-IO Anyanya Division Brigadier General Okeny George M. Lam raised an alarm on challenges facing them at Acwa cantonment site.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel on Saturday, General Okeny said the soldiers are faced with lack of food and medical supplies to sustain them.
The SPAIO commander says his forces are ready to join other soldiers for general training of South Sudan.
Lam wishes the challenges not to follow the forces to the training site
‘We have challenges, these challenges they are many not limited to only tents, lack of food, we have some health problems which I hope soon will come to an end and we hope even in the training center we may have also clean drinking water. This is what am trying to imagine, I don’t know what is there in the training centre’, he said.
Brigadier General George appealed for orderly reform of forces as they approach training for easy administration and reassures citizen of party’s commitment to complete peace process
‘All of us are tired of war and we may not wish any leader to push us into any chaos. Therefore South Sudanese should be reassured that nobody wants another turmoil to commence again, but whoever pushes to that direction it is up to IGAD and international community to witness and South Sudanese will also bear witness who started what and why and we hope South Sudan in 2020 will be a year of peace this is our hope and we are heading for that’, he pleaded.
Meanwhile the Chief of Morale Orientation at Acwa cantonment site Brigadier General John Junub Otto said they only received some bags of rice, but did not disclose the number.
‘We received rice without oil without salt this is the challenges we have here in this cantonment and I don’t know if other cantonment sites have the same challenges like the one we have what make us to lose one of our soldier yesterday was that he was going to look for fish in the river so that we take with rice as sauce but got drown into the river or they thought we are in the Nimule park so that is why they brought rice alone so that we look for our sauce from here did the government mean like that if they mean so they would have not sent us rice only’, he complained.
The Chief of Morale Orientation called on the government to take good care of forces at cantonment site across the country
The speakers made the remarks to Radio Emmanuel at Acwa Cantonment Site on Saturday.
