Christians call for peace during their Christmas carol in Torit

Different denominations in Torit met at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral to celebrate Christmas Carol on Thursday.
 
This is the first inter church carol organized by the Catholic Diocese of Torit and inter church committee or ICC.
 
During the event Fr Leonsio Omina Okwormoi says the coming of Christians together shows the unity among people. 
 
Women leader of the Inter Church Committee Paquina Akongo questions why South Sudanese continue dwelling in conflict instead of choosing peace.
 
She adds people should forget their differences and turn to God for everlasting peace.
 
Meanwhile State Chairperson for ICC Pastor Oryem Solomon Abalang says South Sudanese are longing for peace.
 
The pastor hopes that the New Year 2020 will promote peaceful coexistence in the country.
 
Hellen Achiro Victor says peace should start at grassroots instead of waiting for leaders to reconcile.
 
She urges leaders to iron out pending issues within the 100 days agreed and give peace a chance.
 
This year’s Christmas Carol’s is celebrated under the theme: ‘Forget the former things neither should you dwell in the past. Behold I will do for you new things and it shall Spring Up’.
