Torit women demand end to all forms of violence against them

Women in Torit have raised their voices, demanding for an end to all forms of violence against them in the state and South Sudan at large.
 
Their concerns came during the commemoration of the 16 days of activism against gender based violence.
 
During the occasion, Chairperson for persons living with disabilities, Laduma Patricia Egan says all forms of violence against women must stop.
 
She appeals to men to respect women and treat them with dignity.
 
Girls’ representative from Akio Memorial School, Primrose Annet, expresses her happiness to celebrate the day.
 
She calls on women to stand up and advocate for their rights.
 
Meanwhile male representative Mario Awaraga Jackson admits that women are victims of gender based violence, calling for an end to the practice.
 
Executive Director for Resilience Organization, Kevin Abalo, promises to work hard to support women’s rights in the state.
 
She advises all women to report any form of gender based violence to the concerned authorities for support.
 
16 days of activism is an international campaign against gender based violence, marked annually on 25 November.
