Justice and Peace Commission of Rumbek Catholic Diocese says it has cancelled the peace tournament in Eastern –Bhar-Nam County due to insecurity on the road.
The commission had organized peace tournament for the cattle keepers in Thon-Aduel.
Director for Justice and Peace Commission Abraham Malual Wantok says he was shocked when he heard about the fresh clashes among the local communities in thon-Aduel.
Malual adds that he has no choice, except to cancel the tournament.
He attributes poverty and insufficient basic needs to the conflict that has displaced many people in the area.
Mr Malual fears that the situation could worsen if there is nothing done to calm the people.
He appeals to Western Lakes’ government to call for more soldiers from the national government to disarm the civil population. Malual says two years ago when disarmament was done, there was a little breathe, where people could move freely.
The director made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Good News Radio on Monday in his office.
