Western Lakes’ women get skills on decision making and rights

Western Lakes Women Association and Civil Society Organizations Network on Friday conducted discussion for women leaders to have decision making in traditional laws and know their rights in the society.
 
The event was done in collaboration with Rumbek civic engagement center and Friend for Justice.
 
Speaking during the conversation Ayor Achol Kuer criticized the traditional court system of leaving married women for a long period which later results into adultery.
 
She said it is collective responsibilities of parents to guide their daughters when they got married early.
 
Achol stated that people marry to be happy and produce children.
 
Lawyer John Malou Ater disclosed that women have numerous cases in traditional courts.
 
He disclosed that women are part of the Judiciary System according to the Local Government Act.
 
‘Women shall be accorded full and equal dignity of the person with men and shall have the right to participate equally with men in public life’, he quoted the Act.
 
The speakers made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Good News Radio in Rumbek.
