Civil Society encourages Western Lakes’ youth to unite

Common Voice Africa, a civil society organization, brought young people and government officials for a one-day roundtable discussion on social cohesion in Rumbek.
 
The discussion aims at bringing youth and government officials to understand unity and do away with tribalism.
 
Prof Kot Kucniin says education system in South Sudan is making students fail to understand the word tribalism.
 
He advises people not to use the name of their tribes to harm others.
 
Western Lakes State Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Machar Agok urges young people to live together and avoid division.
 
Participant Makur Majur Makuec blames the government for failing to disarm the civilians’ population for peaceful co-existence among communities.
 
Manyiel Dut Kok, who facilitated the discussion, reveals that the traditional authority has lost its power on the control of current rate of crimes.
 
He calls on everybody to take a role in dealing with wrongdoers.
 
The discussion was organized by Common Voice Africa with support from Rumbek Civic Engagement Center through USAID success project.
