UNMISS trains national army and women to serve rape survivors

United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS trained representatives from South Sudan People’s Defence Forces, youth and women group on sexual, gender-based violence in Rumbek.
 
The training was under the theme: ‘Join hands against rape’.
 
UNMISS’ Human Right Officer Hilma Moses appeals to participants to implement the theme of the training to stand against rape.
 
One of the participants, Rose Nyandair Mabor, says rape cases have become very common in communities.
 
She calls for severe punishment of perpetrators.
 
Director-General of the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare, Julia Alljabu urges the communities to report rape cases for earlier management.
 
The two-day workshop brought together women group, South Sudan people’s Defence Force and youth representatives in Rumbek.
