The government of Germany announced additional 128 million US Dollars for supporting health and education programs in East African Community or EAC.
EAC Secretary General Ambassador Lib√©rat Mfumukeko and the Charg√© d’Affaires of Germany, J√∂rg Herrera, jointly signed the Agreement in Arusha, Tanzania on Thursday.
105 million US Dollars will go to the EAC’s immunization programme with the Vaccine Alliance through procurement of four different types of vaccines including Pentavalent, Rotavirus, Pneumococcal and Measles for children.
Ambassador Mfumukeko thanked Germany for its continued support to the EAC and the integration process in general.
He said the immunization programme in particular would go a long way in saving the lives of millions of children in the six EAC Partner States.
German Charg√© d’Affaires, J√∂rg Herrera, emphasized their commitment to extend the ongoing health and education programmes with the EAC Secretariat.
He noted that the programmes would especially benefit the young generation of East African citizens.’
