The Ministry of Gender Child and Social Welfare and partners launched 16 days of activism in Wau Protection of Civilians sites.
Director-General at the Ministry of Gender Ann Daniel Ali says women are always victims of all forms of violence that happen in communities, Radio Voice of Hope Radio reports.
She called on parents to be responsible for violence committed to each other in communities.
‘Today we are in POC and yesterday we are in Wau and all of us are from Wau and that is why we said we should come and visit our sisters that are in here. Today we are in remembrance of all things that happen to us we have very many problems as women, there are some that are caused by us as mothers and fathers, but there also some that are caused by our children’, she explained
The director-general blamed parents for not taking good care of their children in their own houses.
She urges them not to put responsibilities own needs on the children because they can fall victim.
‘If you send girl at night she can be rape, if you put responsibility of the house on the children she can be rape, and if you sent girl to bring for you sugar, meat and you don’t know who gave her money that is raping, and if you give your girl out to a man because of money that is raping’, she cautioned.
‘If you don’t send girl to school is a problem. if you don’t discipline girl in a good way is a problem. So problems are not only boys that attack girls, but some time we parent create problems that our children become victims of those problems’, Ann clarified.
She urges all the parents to respect their dignities and behaviours for children not to reflect bad images copied from parents.
‘We should control ourselves as elderly people if you are a mother and you always roam then your daughter will also roam and if you don’t have behaviors and good approaches then your girl will be like you and if you are a mother who does bad things, the same your child will follow you and that is why I am telling you that problems of raping are not only for girls alone, but sometimes we contribute to those problems’, the director-general advised.
‘I am here by saying sorry to all girls who fall victim of raping this year, women who are also being beaten by their husbands sorry to woman their husband left alone and is suffering with the children, sorry to women who lost their husbands and nobody that is struggling with them, these are all problems that happen, she apologized.
The campaign started on November 25 and will end on of December 10, this year.
