The civil society organizations say delays in funding the process of security to mark the 100 days extension are not good signs.
Executive Director of Organization for Responsive Governance Rajab Mohandis during the Public Awareness Forum in Juba on Tuesday said although there are delays in funds, there are already positive signs.
He says the parties held workshops reviewing the security mechanisms plans and that the government has released 40 million dollars. He describes it as achievements.
‘We are concerned that the funds are taking time to reach the mechanisms that is not a good sign; we wanted these resources to move swiftly from the ministry of finance to NPTC, but most importantly to reach out to the security mechanisms. So we would say these delays are not good signs and they need to be addressed, but there are already positive developments’, stresses Mohandis.
Gabriel Changson Chang says the 100 days extension period is about planning to achieve the goal of forming the transitional government on time.
‘There is need for us to make sure that this peace agreement doesn’t slip away from our hands and the only way to do these is that is for the agreement to be implemented. So im optimistice that your leaders will come to griefs with reality and make sure that the AR-TGoNu is formed on time. We received 40 million. We hope it will be on our account very soo. That is the money we are working on to distribute for urgent matters. The budget presented by the security mechanism is over sixty million which is far beyond the forty million. So we have to priorities our activities. So let’s assure that things will move forward positively”, he emphasizes
To date, 14 days are gone and people are left with 86 of the 100 days extension.
The officials were speaking during a Public Awareness Forum on the 100-days extension of the pre-transitional period.
