Police authorities have arrested a 38 years old man, for suspected raping of a fourteen-year old girl at Hai Askal residential area in Torit.
Lieutenant Colonel Mathew Ochan Jacob Police Spokesperson says the suspect is currently under police custody awaiting trails.
Ochan cites excessive consumption of alcohol as the major cause of rape among Torit citizens.
‘At around 9:00am it was reported that one of the young girls of fourteen years was raped by somebody who resides at high Askal. The suspect is under arrest now under police custody; investigation is being carried out to be issued in court. This year, this is something very common due to drunkardness and problem of niggas or bad boys and this maybe has created a lot of rape cases’, says the Police Spokesperson.
Ochan advises teenage girls and boys to stop unnecessary movement at night to minimize rape cases in the state.
‘My message to our children in general is, the future is theirs. Let them not look forward whether you are going somewhere which is very far where you are living at least don’t go alone maybe you can go with a colleague of about two to three people. And again avoid moving at night whether a girl or boy’
