Commissioner and chiefs’ discuss ways to reduce alcohol consumption in Rumbek

The commissioner of Rumbek county Manyiel Riak Manyiel had a discussion with community leaders in Abarkou village on how to reduce alcohol consumption in Rumbek.
 
They agreed on restricting alcohol brewing in Abarkou and other areas in Rumbek Town.
 
Sultan Der Makuer Gol stresses that alcohol brewing was allowed for widows to educate their kids but now it is causing conflict among young people in the community.
 
Meanwhile Commissioner Manyiel Riak instructed organized forces to seize all alcohol brewing materials.
 
Riak advises widows to fine another alternative means to educate their children.
 
They have agreed that anyone who violates the order will be charged with a fine and six month in prison.
 
Deborah Ajak appreciates the commissioner for the initiative and urges her colleagues to stop brewing local alcohol as it causes communal conflict in the State.
 
Ajak adds there are many ways women can earn a living besides selling alcohol.
