United Nations Mission in South Sudan on Tuesday conducted awareness training to 50 South Sudan People’s Defence force on prevention, monitoring and reporting on child rights violations in conflict situations.
According to Good News Radio, the training aimed at creating understanding among SSPDF on the dangers and risks of recruiting children into the army in armed conflicts.
Addressing the participants, UNMISS Chief Rumbek field officer Kwame Dwemena appeals to SSPDF to be more professional on peace missions.
SSPDF Col. Gabriel Marial Moses urges the participants to stop abuses against their own people.
Western Lakes State Security Advisor, Benjamin Maker Mabor admits that South Sudan People’s Defence force is doing bad things to their own people.
He urges them to change and stop committing mistakes.
A report from UN head office in New York shows that organized forces, SPLM in opposition, South Sudan alliance and other parties have all violated the six grave violations, including killing, recruitment of child soldier, rape, attacks and occupying school premises.
