South Sudan prepares to restart oil production in various fields for investment

The Africa Oil and Power says South Sudan is preparing to restart production in various oil fields, including Block 5A operated by Sudd Petroleum Operating Company or SPOC.
 
Africa Oil and Power in a statement issued on Monday said a new discovery in the Dar Petroleum Operating Company-operated Adar field will drive investment into the country.
 
‘SPOC community outreach activities will be further increased moving forward,’ President of Sudd Petroleum Oil Company or SPOC) Eruwan Gerry says.
 
South Sudan Petroleum Ministry will launch the first oil and gas bidding round 2020 at Oil and Power conference on Tuesday and a comprehensive environmental audit to promote transparency.
 
‘As we work towards replenishing our [oil] reserves, we want to invite investors to participate in the bidding and licensing round 2020. We also intend to announce the tendering round for a comprehensive environmental audit ‚Äì the first of its kind in South Sudan’, Minister Daniel Awow Chuang stated.
 
He added that ‘South Sudan is concentrating to address environmental challenges which are major concerns of citizens.
 
‘We are going to have a comprehensive environmental audit, which needs to be done through an international tender in line with our policy of promoting transparency,’ he said.
 
President Salva Kiir will open the Oil and Power conference on Tuesday and will run for two days in Juba.
 
South Sudan is the third country in producing best crude oil in Africa and the 37th globally.
