The United Nations celebrates its 74th anniversary on October 24, 1945 to remember its agenda of promoting human rights, diversity and progress across the world.
UN acting head of field office in Wau Mustafa Tejan says the idea was to contribute for peaceful coexistences, improve living standard of the people by providing emergence response and advocate for peaceful resolution in the world, Voice of Hope Radio reports.
The officer cited that in Wau they have been cooperating with the state authorities to provide programs that support protection of civilians’ peace processes.
He adds that they also give developmental projects and help in combating human rights abuses and promotion of justices in the state.
There are 195 countries in the world and only 193 countries are member states of the United Nations.
