HARD Organization with funds from CORDAID trained some women and men from UNMISS camp and Alel-Chok on how to make fuel efficient stoves and charcoal in order to reduce desertification.
Voice of Hope Radio quoted Project coordinator for Integrated Risk Management Bernice Kitum saying the aim for is to reduce people’s demand for firewood,.
Kitum added that the trainees will be using the stoves for their cooking and will be producing more to be sold.
Some trainees express their gratitude for gaining skills on something they did not know before.
They urge their people not to ignore any training organized by any organization especially in their areas.
The stove is made from river mud, dust and clay soil while the charcoal is made of cassava flour mixed with a burned groundnuts waste cover.
The training assembles about 50 females and 30 males from PoC and Alelchok.
