The South Sudan Council of Churches or SSCC in partnership with Norwegian Church Aid is conducting a five days training on leadership and good governance in the state.

The training aims at empowering women and youth to exercise their leadership skills to enable them manage conflict related situations, Radio Emmanuel reports.

SSCC Regional Facilitator for Greater Equatoria region Gladys Domi Mananyu says engaging women and youth help build capable leaders in the country.

According to Gladys, South Sudan will achieve durable peace when issues affecting youth and women are addressed.

‘So this leadership is all about empowering our youth, empowering our women who are already exercising their leadership but how the leadership is being handled, we need to empower them more, to enhance their leadership skills. So mainly we are trying to give them the necessary skills needed in managing this situation of conflict,’ she explains

Youth leader of African Inland Church David Oling Paul Ibrahim says empowerment of youth helps build a better nation.

He calls on South Sudan leaders to work for the common good of its citizens

Dawa Rose Thomas, Women Leader at Christian Revival Church CRC urges leaders to be honest to one another for peace to prevail in the country.

She also emphasizes fear of God for leaders when exercising their role

‘Let’s cooperate and let’s seek the kingdom of God, because when we are leading with God I think everything will be easy even the peace we sign is not from our hearts but is from God. It is God who has spoken to us to come together and sign this peace. To our president and the vice president and all people in National level let them continue with the spirit of being honest to one another,’ Rose appeals.

The training brought together over 40 religious leaders from different Christians denominations in Torit.
