Agergum Primarys School reports the killing of a 16 year old boy by a policeman who kicked him on Saturday after disagreeing over prices of sweets on Thursday.
The deceased identified as Panther Angan-Ngan kol, was selling sweets to earn his living and support his education.
Medical report indicates that the boy died of internal injuries after the incident.
Peter Panda Kuei, a relative to the deceased and eye witnesses, appeal to the government to take action for justice to prevail.
‘The child was selling sweets near the governor’s sign post at the roundabout. The police came to buy big bom {sweets}. The boy told him all the different prices, saying the sweets range from five pounds to 25 pounds. Unfortunately the police paid for ten pounds but took a big bom of twenty five pounds instead of ten pounds. The boy then asked him, why do you take the one for twenty five pounds instead of the one for ten pounds? He told the policeman to take back his money and the big bom. The policeman came back and kicked the boy until the school boy collapsed. So I’m urging the government to investigate and arrest the policeman’, says Panda.
Head teacher of Ager-Gum Primary School Jeremaiah Muorater Kuc condemns the killing of the school boy.
‘I m very sorry for the incident that happened to my school boy. So I condemn it. These children are the nation of South Sudan’s future. You cannot kill somebody just because of halawa {sweets’}. So I condemn it. This boy in school was very active. He was a player who two days ago, played and won and few days we heard the boy is killed by the solder. I’m not happy for that’, says Muo
Western Lakes State Police Investigator Maj Eli Majur Bech confirms the incident and that, investigations are ongoing.
