Teachers in Pageri County have commemorated there day with a call on the government and education partners to support and improve salaries.
The day was marked in Nimule under the theme: ‘Young teacher: the future of professions”,
Tako Charles, head teacher of Fulla Secondary School in Nimule says without teachers there will be no elites in South Sudan and the world.
Lack of motivation to teachers has forced many to abandon teaching profession for non-governmental organizations so as to get better pay, he points out.
Charles adds that promotion of teachers from one grade to another still remains a major challenge in the county.
Oyella Eunice Anthony, a student in Green Land Secondary School asks teachers to continue working hard in ensuring that all learners have better future leaders.
She calls on her fellow learners to respect and be loyal to teachers so as to attain a better learning.

Taban Oliver, Assistant Inspector of Education Pageri County admits that low and delay salaries of teachers have affected performance in the county and the state.
He assures teachers that the government is working hard in this year’s fiscal budget to give allowances to teachers to improve their situation.
This is the first time for people of Pageri County to commemorate International Teacher’s Day at Fulla Secondary School in Nimule on Friday.
