Governor of Torit Tobiolo Alberio Oromo calls on South Sudanese to campaign for peaceful existence in the state and South Sudan as a whole.
Radio Emmanuel quoted him saying peace and stability is the only solution to South Sudan suffering.
Alberio stresses his government’s commitment to implement the revitalized peace agreement in the state, calling on citizens to own the document.
The governor calls for collective responsibility in bring durable peace in the country as conflict has brought more harm.
Meanwhile Caroline Waudo, UNMISS head of Torit field office calls on parties to the agreement to form the transitional government as agreed in the document.
She also appeals to other opposition groups who did not sign the agreement to join peace so as to give citizens a chance for development.
The speakers made the statements during the International Peace Day commemorated on Tuesday under the theme: ‘Climate action for peace’ at Torit Freedom Square.
