‘Working for peace is a collective responsibility’, says coordinator

Working for peace is a responsibility of everyone, Abraham Malual Wantok, Coordinator of Peace and Justice in the Diocese of Rumbek tells the people of Rumbek and South Sudan at large.
 
He appeals to those with unauthorized weapons and the none signatories to the agreement to lay their guns down and accept peace through dialogue.
 
‘The Work of Peace is a collective responsibility for all of us here. So because of that, Justice and Peace has taken up this day to promote peace through celebrations, masses and peace music and messages of peace. It is also to appeal to the warring groups to lay down their weapons and join the table for negotiating peace with government or whoever they have grievances with to dialogue and bring peace without victimizing people. It is the day we forgive one another and reconcile so that peace prevails., Malual appeals to the parties.

‘As a youth of this country, we need peace. Why don’t we advise our bothers who are at cattle camp to avoid random killing. We’re tired of killing. They are killing themselves every day’, says Malual.
 
CEPO Coordinator in Rumbek, Gabriel Mabor Magar, calls on all people to take away the culture of revenge and plant the spirit of forgiveness to achive lasting peace.
 
He outlines that for peace to prevail there should be good governance, equality and zero corruption.
 
Peace and Justice Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek on Saturday joined the world to celebrate International Peace Day under the theme: ‘Climate action for peace’.
