The journalists while talking on security reforms want to see a responsible security, mindful of citizens’ safety and be transformed from war culture to defence of the country.
They also expect to have security personnel who are patriotic, respectful to human rights and accountable to their mistakes.
This came during a consultation conducted by the Strategic Defence and Security Review Board on security reforms on Monday in Juba.
The Board Chairperson Angelina Juany Teny says the analysis or assessment will help the board in the development of the security policy framework.
The Strategic Defence and Security Review Board is to engage various stakeholders including journalists to identify challenges affecting security sector that may continue to face South Sudan in the future.
It is also to analyze actors in the security sector, including police, armed forces and UNMISS and anybody who plays a role in the security sector.
