UN Food and Agriculture Organization or FAO Coordinator Sarafino Aloma on Friday last week stated that they are in the process of empowering people on food security aspect.
Good News Radio quoted him saying they are in process of empowering the people through training and providing them with initial facilities so that they improve their food status.
Aloma added that there will be training on boats building to enable them to use the local materials so that they become self-reliant in the future.
He added that they are going to follow them to ensure that they use the boats properly as intended.
Meanwhile, Western Lakes State Director-General in the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries Gabriel Makuac urges FAO and VSF to purchase goats to start veterinary project.
He added that people are eager to see this project working as it is the first in the state.
On his part, the Western Lakes State Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture Mabor Kau appealed to partners to intensify vegetable production in the coming dry season to address livelihood component.
The officials were speaking to Good News Radio at handing over ceremony of beehives and boats to VSF in Rumbek.
