Torit State in collaboration with the embassy for the United Kingdom of Netherlands, UN Industrial Development Organization or UNIDO and UNDP launched a job fair to empower youth in productive activities.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, the UN agencies say the project is part of the implementation of resilient and recovery program in the state.
Daniel Maker, UNDP representative says the occasion aims at bringing unemployed youth and employers them, interact and discuss issues related to employment.
He thanks donors for their support in empowering youth and women in business and self-employment activities.
Paska Iromo, a female youth attending vocational training at Torit technical institute, says innovative trainings help improve lives.
She cautions youth against idleness which is the cause of over dependency in most families.
Bashir Allegele, head of UNMISS Torit field officer, calls on the youth to contribute towards peace and development in the state.
He expresses their commitment in promoting respect for human rights in the state and South Sudan at large.
While Torit State Governor, Tobiolo Alberio Oromo, warns humanitarian and government institutions against tribal employment.
He calls for inclusivity and competency in different institutions.
Mr Allege calls on partners to create employment opportunities for the youth in the area.
The Youth Resilience and Recovery Project is part of the 10 million dollar UN project that covers Juba, Bor, Rumbek, Yambio and Torit.
The project is expected to last for five years.
