The authorities of Public Health in Rumbek Municipality dragged to the town court two foreign traders after searching the market on Tuesday and arrested them for selling expired food items.
Deputy Senior Inspector for Public Health, James Magok Akec told Good News Radio that the team caught the traders with expired edible commodities in sector three of Rumbek municipal council.
He assured the press that the traders will face the law.
Magok warned that the arrest is not only in sector three but the whole of Rumbek town and that any trader found with the same case will be taken to court.
The public health team was earlier accused of accepting bribery and compromises to set free those found guilty, but Magok denied the allegation.
He warns officials against bribery and that anyone found will appear in the court and be dismissed from work.
Meanwhile Musa Ishak, one of the owners of the expired goods, admitted the mistake and apologized to customers and the state government.
He said it was not intentional to sell expired food items to consumers.
