Torit State Director General in the Ministry of Infrastructure John Sebit Ciano admits that poor roads network from town to counties have affected transportation of goods in the state.

Radio Emmanuel quoted him saying business vehicles are struggling with poor infrastructure to reach to people with commodities.

He cites Torit Juba-road as the most difficult one because it takes up to eight hours to reach.

‘Our roads are very bad, sometimes it is impassable because this road has taken many years without maintenance. Movement of cars is difficult for example going from here to Juba; it takes at around eight hours to reach. It is so bad, but the business communities are managing to bring food for us here,’ the director stresses.

Sebit explains that his ministry faces financial challengers to repair the roads.

He adds that they have signed an agreement with World food program or WFP to start constructing Torit-Magwi road to ease transportation of passengers.

‘The ministry have priorities, we are willing to maintain these roads, and should there be enough fianc√©s. We all the machines are broken even the grader, our mechanics are working on some of these machines so that road repair can start. The mechanics are looking for spare parts and currently the ministry has reached memorandum of understanding with WFP to start working on Torit Magwi road’, he explains.
