The Catholic Diocese of Torit is making possible arrangements to attend the centenary celebration in the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba in November.

Torit Pastoral Coordinator Fr Kamilo Afore told Radio Emmanuel on Wednesday that the Diocese has informed parishes to send ten representatives each from Western and Eastern Deaneries.

He said twenty representatives from central denary will participate in the occasion.

‘Centenary celebration will take place in Juba at Rejaf, this is the celebration of hundred years of faith, and the Rejaf was founded in the year 1919, we have embarked on the preparation. The choir groups have been mobilized; parishes have been informed to send their representatives. From the Eastern Denary we expect ten representatives of the choir, from the Western Denary we also expect ten and from the Central Deanery, here there are already twenty choir, so together we started practicing songs that will be sang during the celebration of the centenary’, the coordinator explains.

Fr Afore said the diocese is facing challenges of far distance in its parishes which contributed to lack of mobility.

‘The challenges one of it is the far distance imagine because in the diocese we have three deaneries operating one in the east, one in the west, coming of the choir alone is a big challenge on its own and we have also issue of mobility when going from here, the choir and some of us. We have task the priests in those areas to get one car that can accommodate ten people like western denary will go direct to Juba’, he said.

The pastoral coordinator adds that ten elders from the two parishes of Our Lady of Holy Rosary and St Peter and Paul Cathedral will accompany the choirs to Juba.

Fr Kamilo Afore reveals that the celebration for this year is handed to Torit diocese and Yei to lead the congregation because they were part of Juba diocese.

The Catholic priest conveyed the information on Wednesday at Bishop’s residence in Torit.
