East African Community or EAC Partner States are working to harmonize education systems and curricula in the region, revealed Steven Mlote Deputy Secretary-General for Planning and Infrastructure.

He said the complementation would ensure quality education which would guarantee skilled and technical know-how manpower for the labour market in the region.

Engineer Mlote said the quality would also encourage mobility of students and work and foster integration in East Africa.

The deputy secretary-general was speaking in Arusha, Tanzania when seeing off 48 children of Upendo Friends Sports Academy heading to Nairobi, Kenya to participate in a soccer tournament from 17 to 18th August.

He hailed Upendo Friends Sports Academy for facilitating the students to participating in the cross-border tournament.

Engineer Mlote noted that sports were one avenue to promote solidarity and friendship among the youth in East Africa.

The Director of the Upendo Friends Sports Academy, Isabella Daniel said the academy taps children who are talented in sports to nurture their talents to maturity.

Moses Allan Programme Manager of Friends of East Africa, said his organisation would use the Nairobi tournament and similar events to promote the spirit of integration among East Africans.
