The number of IDPs in the protection of civilians’ site or POC is less than thirteen thousand compared to the reported 39 thousand, according to the Director for Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in Wau State.
Michael Geba Tin Ukello says after the signing of the revitalized peace agreement in September, there has been change in security situation all over the state, Voice of Hope reports.
He adds that POC was hosting 39 thousand and now there are only 13 thousand IDPs which shows that Wau is stable and peace prevails.
Geba points out that they have agreed with humanitarian agencies to distribute food in their residential areas and there is no need for IDPs to remain in the POCs.
WFP, IOM, UNHCR and other humanitarian agencies are yet to comment on the matter.
