Government arrests suspect behind clashes in Tonj

The Minister of Information in Tonj state on Tuesday confirmed that the national government delegation identified thirteen suspects behind the clashes between the national security operation and the police service in Tonj.
 
William Wol Mayom revealed that the thirteen people comprise of nine national security and four police personnel as the root causes of the clash, which occurred on 17th July and left five people wounded, Don Bosco Radio reports.
 
‘The incident happened on the 17 July 2019, when our loyal forces particularly organized forces unit of police and security operation unit clashed over unidentified issue. They fought almost for nine minutes and five people sustained injury. Luckily, our Governor Major General Mathew Mathiang intervened’, Wol reported.
 
The minister explains that by the National government resolved the case committee, leaving thirteen people in prison for further investigations.
 
‘A joint committee compose of police was sent from Juba to find out the root course of the conflict between police and national security. The committee spent three days investing those who are involved in the conflict. Thirteen of the suspects are taken to Wau, for imprisonment, said the minister.
 
In a related news development, the National government sent a committee made up of thirty members to conduct community dialogues in Tonj East counties on the communal conflicts that claim lives of innocent people.
 
The objective of the committee is to find out the root causes of conflict among the communities and return the raided cattle to the rightful owners.
