Women Group at University of Bahr el Ghazal raises their concerns about empowering women through education in the region and the whole country.
Pastor Angelina Ayen of Episcopal Church commends the appointing of a woman in top position at the university and describes it as an honour for females in Wau and South Sudan.
She adds that women are peacemakers and it is a chance for them to educate their children and partners to embrace the spirit of peace.
University Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Hawa Margan says people talk of educating women, yet some communities block girls from going to schools.
She urges partners to implement girls’ education policy in different communities so that women can become future leaders.
Dr Margan promises her readiness to support women in all challenges they faced.
She explains that empowering women should not be practically through education.
The speakers made the statements during the Honouring celebration of Dr. Hawa as first woman to be Deputy Vice Chancellor at University of Bahr el Ghazal.
