Don Bosco encourages school gardens in Tonj and South Sudan

Don Bosco Senior Secondary School students in Sacred Heart Parish Tonj of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek are encouraging opening of school gardens and planting crops for economic benefit of the learning institutions.
 
According to Don Bosco Radio, the administration of the school dedicated a day for agriculture in the school in order to support the smooth running of education.
 
The administrators say they faced a lot of challenges in the previous years before introduction of farming in the school.
 
David Lok, a student calls upon learners in Tonj State and South Sudan to encourage agriculture as a tool for chasing away hunger in the country.
 
Charles Malith, another learner, urges his fellow students to use the land that school gives them for their benefit.
 
He also encourages other schools to open up gardens as other way of showing example to communities of Tonj State and South Sudan at large.
 
Malith advises young people to use their energy in agriculture and avoid loitering around and involving in crimes.
 
The students were talking during cultivation period on Wednesday in Tonj.
