The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek on Tuesday July 16, 2019 celebrated the eighth anniversary of late Bishop Caesar Mazzolari beginning with Holy Mass.
Rumbek Diocesan Coordinator Monsignor John Mathiang appreciates late Bishop, Caesar Mazzolari for his dedication and commitment in spreading the gospel of Christ despite challenges he encountered.
Monsignor Mathiang calls on the religious, catechists and Christians to continue watering the tree planted by the late Bishop to bear fruits of faith, love and unity among them.
In the same Eucharistic celebration of the commemoration, 15 catechumens received Holy Communion with one confirmed among them.
Rumbek Diocese is eight years now without a bishop since the death of its shepherd Bishop Caesar Mazzolari on July 16, 2011.
The event attracted religious leaders, government officials, students from different schools and the general public on Tuesday at Bishop Mazzolari Memorial Secondary School.
Mazzolari Day is mark yearly on 16th July to remember the soul of the late Bishop Caesar Mazzolari.
Pope John Paul the Second appointed the late Bishop to lead Rumbek Diocese on November 5, 1998.
He was consecrated Bishop on 6th January 1999 and died on 16th July 2011 due to heart attack while celebrating mass at Holy Family Cathedral.
