UN pledges 650 million USD to government for 2019 priorities

The UN agencies and members of the UNCT pledge to the national government 650 million US Dollars for the priorities of 2019, announces Humanitarian Coordinator.
 
Alain Noudohou explains that the money is to strengthen governance, improve food security and recover local economies.
 
He adds that the amount is also for social service and empowering women and youth
 
‘The cooperation agreement covers on governance, social services, health and education, livelihood and also on women activities’, he adds.
 
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Garang Mabiordit urges the government to sustain peace in the country to allow UN agencies support development and services delivery.
 
‘Most important thing is peace to be sustainable to help UN agenesis to cover other areas and have freedom of movement because other areas are under guns which we hope to be put in the stores’, he says.
 
The statements came during a consultation meeting between United Nations team and the government partners to review joint results and priorities for the future on Tuesday in Juba.
