Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in Torit State is distributing supplementary food to the returning population from neighboring countries of Kenya and Uganda.
Radio Emmanuel reports that over 100 registered households are expected to benefit from the distribution exercise of 50 kg of rice per household.
Speaking to Journalists John Odongi Simon Torit State Director of the Commission says the support is a donation of the Kenyan government to the people of South Sudan.
He calls on humanitarian agencies to support the returning population with food and non-food items.
‘We are doing some distribution to the refugee returnees from various refugee camps from Uganda, from Kenya these are our citizens who were deserted during the conflict they went back to the camp and they came back and all these time we have been keeping the registration the data for people who come and register under RRC’, he explains
He adds that ‘the ongoing exercise is of course as a result donation of the republic of Kenya to South Sudan they donated some rice to the national level and as such the national level also the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management in coordination with relief and rehabilitation commission at National level decided to give a portion of rice to all the state’
Odongi calls on returning population to turn up for registration for planning and humanitarian aid support.
According to him, many returnees complained of support due to no donation from local and international organizations.
Odongi appreciates the Kenyan government for donating 1500 bags of rice to the suffering returnees in Torit State.
The director made the remarks in an interview with Radio Emmanuel on Monday.
