Torit State celebrates World Youth Skill Day

Citizens in Torit on Monday joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Youth Skill Day under theme: ‘Learning to learn and work’.
 
The occasion was marked to encourage young people to value learning and engage in productive activities in the state, Radio Emmanuel reports.
 
Speaking during the occasion Ohucholi Patrick, chairperson of organizing committee working for Humanity Inclusion says the occasion is to recognize the practical skills youth have to earn a living.
 
He encourages young people to do carpentry, engineering among others to sustain them and their families.
 
Acting chairperson of State Youth Union David Orupi Oywek asks South Sudanese to observe World Skills Day for sustainable development in the country.
 
He adds there are many things one can do to earn a living.
 
‘I appeal to all partners to support the young people in order to achieve gender sensitive approach’ the chairperson stresses.
 
Meanwhile Margret Idwa Okuye advises youth to put their skills into practice in order to make more wealth than office work.
 
United Nations General Assembly On 18th December 2014 declaring July15 as the World Youth Skill Day.
 
In Torit State and South Sudan at large, youth unemployment remains a critical concern that requires a collective attention from government and developmental partners.
