The Chief of Staff of Reconstituted Joint Monitoring Evaluation Commission or RJMEC says the media should be informing the public on the revitalised peace deal, law review and criminal justice processes.
Ambassador Berhanu Kebede stresses that the media should talk about the rights of women, children and mostly IDPs.
He admits that the media is a powerful tool for campaigns against gender-based violence and contribute positively.
Kebede adds that encouraging women to be part of the revitalised deal will help in making the implementation successful.
He promises that they will remain committed to support all initiatives in the execution of the agreement.
Chairlady of Female Journalists Network Irene Ayaa encourages members of the media to promote positively competition on issues of the 35 percent on the agreement.
The officials spoke during women journalists’ workshop under the theme: ‘Empowering female journalists to play a role in creating awareness of women representation and participation in the peace process through their reporting’.
