Wau State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday declared that they had no confidence towards the minister of health.

The vote followed absence of James Patrick Ibrahim in the August House after being summoned for the third time on issues related to his ministry and Wau Teaching Hospital.

The absence forced the Members of the State Legislative Assembly to give their views and final decision for raising a motion for impeachment.

Chairperson of Information, Culture, Youths and Sports in the Assembly, Agiu Athuai Agiu, explains that in the second summon lawmakers were not comfortable with the minister’s answers.

He added that, the Assembly gave minister a period of seven days to return the plot of the ministry of health, give back president’s donation to the Wau Teaching Hospital and report to the assembly with clear documents.

Athuai explains that the legislators were surprised to see the Director-General with the minister.

Due to the absence of the minister, Acting Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, Viola Alexander Umeli says two-third majority voted out the ministry of health.

She quoted the state constitution saying the voted out minister would either resign or be dismissed by gubernatorial decree.

Wau State Assembly on June 19 summoned the State Minister of Health James Patrick Ibrahim to answer some questions related to president’s donation of 500,000 SSP and other undisclosed issues.

On June 26,2019, the Assembly repeated their summon to the minister who failed to give satisfactory answers, prompting third call and the consequent passing on the vote of no confidence against him.
