CRN calls for immediate release of Radio Good News Director in Rumbek

Catholic Radio Network or CRN is appealing to the authorities in Rumbek to immediately release the Director of its branch, Good News Radio.
 
Marial Deng was detained on Wednesday after the authorities in Rumbek accused him of interviewing the former Governor of Western Lakes State.
 
‘We appeal, to the government of Western Lakes State-Rumbek to immediately release Marial and if there are concerns over the interview conducted by the radio, should be addressed to the right Media Authorities and CRN will cooperate in settling the matter in due course’ said CRN Director Mary Ajith.
 
Bakhita Radio, an affiliate of the CRN, was also closed in 2014 were Security forces arrested news editor, Ocen David, former Managing Director, the late Albino Tokwaro and two radio presenters.
 
The government said Bakhita misinformed the public by quoting opposition sources.
 
CRN Director however condemns the demand by authorities to screen all the radio programmes before going on-air.
