Torit State selects over 30 delegates to attend Equatoria Regional conference

Torit has selected 36 members from four counties of the former Eastern Equatoria State.
 
Member of Eastern Equatoria sub-region for national dialogue, Emmanuel Lolimo, says the selected members include women, youth, chiefs, organized forces, farmers among others.
 
He says similar conference will take place next week in Kapoeta.
 
Speaking on behalf of the selected members, Alphonse Muras Chacha from Ikwoto County confirms that the selection was fair and transparent.
 
He assures that the members will fully represent the will of the people of Torit State during the regional conference.
 
He calls on citizens to remain united for the good of the country.
 
On behalf of Torit State Commissioners, Dominic Onyu Paul disagrees with the selection criteria.
 
He describes it as ‘directive selection’ that denies trusted people from going.
 
Commissioner Onyu cautions Eastern Equatoria subcommittee for grassroots consultations against replacing the selected delegates with some people from Juba.
 
He says the selected committee is to blame in case of failure to represent the will of the people.
 
Nartisio Loluke Manir is the Chairperson for Eastern Equatoria subcommittee for grassroots consultations. He says the selection criteria include all levels of government.
 
Torit State Governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo tasks the delegates to put people’s interest first.
 
He urges the members to speak the truth about the needs of the people of Torit State.
 
According to the Eastern Equatoria subcommittee for grassroots consultations, the regional dialogues have been done in Upper Nile and Bahr-El Ghazal regions.
 
The committee says Equatoria regional dialogue conference is set to kick off in July 2019.
