The Director General in the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare in Yei River State, attributes the increased rape cases in the nation to over consumption of alcohol.

Victoria Nasra Augustino says the communities and organized forces are involved in too much consumption of alcohol.

She adds that some families are broken because of the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Nasra explains that due to divorce, children drop out of school and become thieves.

Nasra regrets that women who are involved in drinking alcohol forget their responsibilities of providing food and other basic needs to their children.

She warns that drug abuse leads to poor health conditions.

The Director General was speaking to Radio Easter on Wednesday during the celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
