Former Deputy Governor appears in court over missing 3.64 million SSP

The former Deputy Governor of Western Lakes State who was also care taker minister of education on Friday appeared in the state court to explain the disappearance of high school teachers’ capitation grant worth three point six four SSP.
 
Earlier this month, William Koji Kerjok admitted to Good News Radio that at least 10.68 million SSP did not reach the teachers.
 
He claimed that his former employer was responsible for the missing money.
 
William Koji Kerjok, showed himself to the court sitting on Friday morning in blue suit with his defence lawyer.
 
Speaking to the press after the court hearing, Koji’s defence lawyer Moses Marial Bol calls for the dismissal of the case against his client.
 
He says the money was with the former governor.
 
Teacher’s Defence Lawyer Malith Wundit Jokthiang says he is confident that his clients will win the case because he has evidence.
 
The court hearing is adjourned to 27 June 2019. The Former Governor John Deng who was also summoned earlier by the court refused to show up.
 
Capitation grant and teachers’ incentives is a joint contribution from the government of South Sudan and European Union to support education sector in South Sudan.
