Commissioner of Ayaci County of Torit State clarifies that the area is experiencing food insecurity.
Confirming the report to Radio Emmanuel in Palotaka, Charles Okumu says his citizens depended on last year’s harvest that is already finished.
The areas experiencing food insecurity includes Pajok,Poge, Lobone, Obbo and Palwar.
Okumu says the county has contacted some Non-Governmental Organizations over the matter.
The Commissioner expresses hope over the possible assistance, promising to follow up in case of any delay.
Okumu encourages the communities in the area to carryout agriculture seriously in order to avert hunger in the area.
He advises them to keep some farm products in the house after harvest instead of selling.
The Commissioner encourages both men and women in Ayaci County to engage in serious cultivation this year.
