A Counsellor working at Diocesan Counselling Center in the Catholic Diocese of Yei says hate speech can break people in the community.

Radio Easter quotes John Mawa Fredrick explaining that by conducting workshop to the community leaders, they will be able to resolve issues of hate speech at family level.

He points out that misunderstanding may arise among family members; for instance between husband and wife, children and neighbours as a result of hate speech.

Diocesan Counselling Center or DCC has conducts several workshops to community leaders but this training targets peaceful coexistence and ignorance about hate speech.

The counsellor was speaking during the opening session of a three days’ workshop organized for community leaders in Yei.
